Abriento Puertas is a program that supports parents of young children (ages 0–5) in becoming confident leaders and strong advocates for their children’s learning. The program provides parents with tools, knowledge, and encouragement to help their children grow up healthy, successful, and prepared for school. It is grounded in an approach called popular education, which honors parents’ life experiences and promotes learning through group dialogue, storytelling, and cultural traditions. In this model, every participant is both a teacher and a learner, and learning happens by sharing, reflecting, and acting together. At its core, the program is built on the belief that parents are their child’s first and most important teacher. It affirms that parents have the right and the power to shape their child’s future and build safe, supportive communities.
Abriendo Puertas helps families feel empowered, informed, and ready to take meaningful action for their children’s success. At this time we are proud to offer this class to the Parents Support Group of Paso a Paso, whose dedication and partnership strengthen the program and help us build a stronger community together.
